An Uncomfortable Connection Between Abortion and Hell?

05/07/2022 02:43 AM — There's an interesting connection that, for Christians, strengthens the pro-life argument in surprising ways that I've been wanting to write up for a long time. If you are not a Christian or a Jew, what I have to share here is probably of little significance to you. But you are welcome to read it anyway!

Remembering My Dad: Joseph J. Baldwin III

01/11/2021 09:48 PM — A post remembering my father. How do you aptly honor the hands that held you, the heart that loved you, the man who led you, who always forgave you, knew you, and not just walked beside you - but taught you to walk?

Would God be pleased with the way Christians are living today? Why?

10/29/2020 04:53 PM

I’m not a huge fan of answering this question, frankly, because my opinions (though I have many) don’t actually matter. You’re asking a man to speak for God, which is a daunting if not dangerous task.  But what if I told you we actually have a series of letters from the Lord Jesus Christ — God Himself — that specifically answer this question?  The briefest answer is “Yes and no.” The harder part is discerning the “Why?”

The Origin of Satan in the Hebrew Bible

11/02/2019 04:47 PM

Who or what is Satan, according to the Hebrew Bible?  If you grew up in church, the answer may shock you.  Not to say that many of the church's teachings are completely wrong.  Rather, it would be wrong to think they are complete.  The Hebrew behind our “Satan” is השטן - haasatan - which is pronounced “hah-sah-TAHN,” and means “The Opposer.”

Where does the Bible say Jesus is 100% man and 100% God?

11/10/2018 09:48 PM

I recently was "A2A" (asked to answer) a question on Quora: "Where does the Bible say Jesus is 100% man and 100% God?" I’m taking “man” to mean “human.”

The answer is, it doesn’t. At least, not directly.  It does, however, say both, but in very Jewish ways and not really together like in one place. As a result, the important aspect of answering this question is to explore both claims, which has to be done separately. Interesting note, there are a few places where these separate claims actually *are* connected.

Is it Sinful to eat meat?

01/01/2018 06:08 PM

As a Christian and a vegetarian / vegan, I frequently am asked why I choose not to eat meat.  After all, meat consumption is clearly not forbidden in the Bible. People are usually pretty surprised by my answer. Lets quickly explore the question of meat consumption from a Christian Vegan's perspective.

What is a Firmament?: The Mystery of the Genesis Sky

12/14/2017 07:40 PM

Picture Earth in your mind. Ok. You’re likely thinking of something similar to The Blue Marble - a planet floating in a sea of black space. Remarkably, this image has only been possible for the last 50 years or so, since it was taken December 7, 1972. But 3,000 years ago, with no photo, this is what you believed ...

Can a person still be a "Christian" if they don't believe in the Trinity?

06/19/2016 01:41 PM

In Matthew 24:36, Jesus declares even HE doesn't know "the day or hour" of His return - only the Father. So how can He and the Father be one? Can you still be a Christian if you don't believe in the Trinity?
