My Gift to You

— When I was younger, I'd often ask You for this or for that... to do this or to do that.  When I couldn't have it (or simply couldn't have it yet) I'd ask You to let me know.  I'm older now, though not much.  And I've learned a few things, though I have much to learn.  I've grown up under Your leadership and guidance, Your merciful hand of friendship and grace, Your watchful eye and Your unfailing love for 25 years... and only now have I realized that in asking to know, I was denying You the only thing I have that is truly mine -- the only thing I can give You that isn't already Yours....

Beautiful Rainbow from World Harvest Church - May 22, 2011

— So, as I was leaving the evening service at World Harvest Church tonight, a beautiful, beautiful rainbow appeared in the eastern sky.  It reminded me of God's covenant with us, so I just had to share.

Logitech C910 Webcam

— So, the other day, I was talking to Paul Sobel, and he recommended this webcam: a Logitech C910 capable of recording 1080p video.  Having just received $75 in Amazon.com gift certificates via rewards from my credit card points program, I decided to buy this bad boy.  The results are as follows...

The Women's Clinic of Columbus Saved 1,600 Babies Since 2008, Needs Your Help

— In 2008, my Pastor spearheaded the opening of The Women's Clinic of Columbus for the purpose of ministering to women in Columbus, OH, but particularly those facing unexpected pregnancies.  Since that time, many free pregnancy tests and free ultrasounds have been administered, resulting in the saving of 1,600 babies that would have otherwise been victims of abortion.  But now The Women's Clinic needs your help to continue their operations.  What greater calling do we have as believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ, or for unbelievers -- as humans, than to fight for those that cannot fight for themselves.

Your Words Are Your Victory

In August of 2010, on a warm summer Saturday, I put on my shoes, a pair of shorts, and a sleeveless t-shirt.  The grass grows quickly in the summer in Ohio, and as I am our yard’s barber, I was preparing for my weekly ritual to style it to our liking once again.

As I was mowing over the little hill at our house in Pataskala and worshiping the Lord to the sound of worship music from my mobile phone, I heard the voice of the Lord clearly speak to me.  This is normal for me – to hear God.  What is strange and always stands out to me is when I hear Him without searching for Him to speak.  I love the Lord, and I love singing to Him.  But once in a while, when I come to praise God – not seeking anything from Him or desiring Him to give me something or to do something for me – but just to praise Him for who He is and all He’s already done – He speaks to me.  He wanted to tell me something, you see.  He wanted to warn me – to prepare me for battle, because He loves me that much.  He loves you that much too.  And He’ll speak to you the same way if only you’ll make time to listen.

The Ohio State University

Today marks a big day for me in college land.  I had my first mid term exam.  The class?  MATH 151 - Calculus and Analytical Geometry.

What If He Left Me?

On my way to work this morning, I had a song stuck in my head.  Kelly Clarkson – Behind These Hazel Eyes.  I decided to listen to the song, as often I do when a song finds its way into the repetitive regions of my brain.  As the song played, I thought about the lyrics.  Song lyrics are usually something highly personal to me, and I sought after what exactly they were touching in my heart.  I realized all at once, that these words would be what I would write if Jesus left me.  I know and I’m thankful that He’ll never leave or forsake me.
